MEET OUr FOUNDER

Moniek Van Erven

Water Guardian · Ceremonialist · Freediver · Water Therapist · Spiritual Mentor

Mo’s path began over two decades ago in meditation, and deepened through years of walking with Indigenous elders and ceremonial work. But it was Water that truly transformed her.

As a ceremonialist, freediver, water therapist, explorer, and water dancer, she honours water in every form - from oceans and cenotes to the tears we cry.

She inherited her love for swimming from her mother, with roots stretching from the shorelines of Indonesia (maternal lineage) to the rivers of the Netherlands (paternal lineage), the kelp forests of South Africa, and the reefs of Mexico.

She founded Oyasin, a global sanctuary for healing, and has guided retreats and ceremonies worldwide to help leaders return to their bodies and open their hearts.

Her guidance is intuitive, rooted in lived experience, and shaped by the teachings of the water. She channels water’s wisdom through vision, word, and song.

Water is her teacher.

And so, she guides like water.

Story behind Born From Water

Born From Water came through the water.
It began beside a sacred lagoon in Bacalar, Mexico, when I asked: “What do you need?”

She responded with a vision, of the first life form born in the ocean’s depth.
I didn’t just see it. I felt it. I was there with her.

I offered her my service, not yet knowing what that meant.
I spent hours each day in the water — freediving, guiding water ceremonies, offering songs, practicing therapy, and dancing with her currents.

A year later, I returned to give thanks.
She had opened pathways I didn’t know I needed, and given me healing, softness, trust, friendship, and love.
This time, I offered her my heart.

She showed me that true service must be collective, many hearts, one mission.
With so much pain in the world and in ourselves, we need her more than ever.

And I saw I wasn’t alone.
I met water brothers, sisters, elders, and guides, each receiving the same wisdom, each in their own way.

The water asked me to carry this, with everyone who loves her.

Because together, we can remember.
Together, we can heal ourselves, and our oceans.

Born From Water is that offering.

Introducing the Elemental Wheel

The Elemental Wheel cycles through four elements: Water → Fire → Earth → Air. You start with one element, fully engage, then move on once you embody its wisdom.
All four elements are needed to lead fully. Now is the time to gather.

Water is not a resource.
She is a relative. A consciousness. A home.

Moniek van Erven (Founder of Born From Water)

Ocean Lover · Ceremonialist · Freediver · Water therapist · Spiritual Mentor

Mo guides you and walks beside you. From a place of deep listening, lived experience, and her devotion to Water as teacher and healer. She’s hosting retreats and ceremonies across the globe. Her guidance is intuitive, grounded, and rooted in love.

Mo’s path began over two decades ago in meditation and six years ago with sacred medicine work, and it was Water that truly transformed her. Through oceans, cenotes, and tears, water softened her armor, healed her nervous system, and returned her to feeling.

She founded Oyasin, a global sanctuary for healing, guiding retreats and ceremonies across the world for leaders to help them to return to the body, the earth, the heart.

Her guidance is intuitive and loving, rooted in lived experience and years of walking with Indigenous elders, sacred medicines, and the water itself. She doesn’t teach from a method, she listens, feels, and lets the water lead.

Water is her teacher.
And so, she guides like water.
